WELCOME
Guest & Golfers!
We are delighted to host our 2nd Annual Lady Josephine Golf Tournament today at Capital City Club in Brookhaven! This years fundraising will benefit the CCRC (Congenital Cardiac Research Collaborative) & assist Families battling PVS.
The CCRC, is a multi-center research consortium (now 16 Hospitals), who’s #1 priority for the remainder of 2023 is launching a multi-center PVS database. Benjamin and Liz Poe were honored to accept the invitation to be members of the CCRC Family Advisory Board, where they will be part of the positive impact on PVS patients and families. You can can learn more about this organization here.
Today’s tournament is a direct result of the commitment of all our sponsors, donors, and individuals that have supported the foundation. We would like to take a moment to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Berckmans American Vodka, and their representatives here – Richard & Emily Jordan along with Robert and Laurie LaChapelle, for being our Title Sponsor. This tremendous act of generosity is what keeps our mission going strong!
We would also like to thank our website
and marketing all-stars, Cameron Carswell & Kristy Cloninger, for their continued work and dedication to our Foundation efforts. We are grateful for all the work from our event committee and volunteers who truly make this event possible.
It has been a busy year for Lady Josephine Foundation, with our 1st Kentucky Derby Family Festival under our belt and our 2nd annual golf tournament underway! Also, our Event Director, Emily Jordan & her husband Richard, welcomed their second daughter into the world in September 2023! Their dedication to the foundation in this busy season of parenthood is truly humbling and appreciated by so many.
Lastly, we are well on our way to reaching our annual goal of raising $150,000. Thank you to each and everyone of you for supporting us in this goal.
On behalf of all those involved, we look forward to an exciting tournament and the positive impact it will have on the PVS community.

PVS,
PVS is a serious disease, resulting from a blockage in the blood vessels responsible for blood flow from the lungs back to the heart. Although rare and often life threatening, Lady Josephine Foundation believes that PVS is shifting from a terminal diagnosis to a chronic disease through brave families, caring doctors, and specific research. Josephine’s life with PVS has helped pave a path of hope and potential for these children!
The Lady Josephine Foundation is on a mission to establish and acknowledge our fight for answers that seemed unattainable, to celebrate our victories in a life that has defied the odds, and to support the many people that have & will continue to pursue a treatment plan to better the lives of children with PVS.
Josephine’s Journey
At 7 weeks old, Josephine was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition called pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS – a rare, progressive, and serious condition in which there is a blockage in the blood vessels that brings blood from the lungs back to the heart). Josephine’s story is an amazing triumph, journeying from little hope of survival to a thriving child. By the age of 4, she has undergone 14 heart catheterizations, 2 open heart surgeries, and has a pacemaker placed. At her most intense phase of her PVS journey, she received up to 14 doses of medication per day, depended on a G-tube for nutrition, and participated in multiple weekly therapies during this time period.
Presently, though this is a recurring and progressive disease, her PVS is stable. She has moderate to severe stenosis in her veins requiring heart catheterizations approximately every 9 months, with monitoring in between. She receives all nutrition by mouth, and minimal medications. Josephine adores time with her big sisters, exploring in nature with her family, and just being a kid. We attribute this success to the Divine Orchestration of the dedicated medical teams that have cared so well for her, and of the answered Prayers through the Love and support she has been blessed to receive from family, friends, and strangers. Josephine’s life has helped pave a path of hope and potential for children with PVS. At Lady Josephine Foundation, we know from experience that PVS is a life-threatening condition, but we also believe PVS is shifting from a terminal diagnosis to a chronic disease through the work of brave families, caring doctors, and specific research.
Mission
Lady Josephine Foundation was established to foster hope in the children and families battling PVS. We aim to:
- Generate awareness in recognizing, diagnosing, and acknowledging the available treatments to fight this disease.
- Celebrate the victories in the lives that have defied the odds.
- Support, through prayer and means, the many people that have and will continue to pursue a treatment plan to better the lives of children with PVS.
